Ronaldo’s Special Year Celebrated with Limited Edition Cleat

Ronaldo's limited edition cleats

Cristiano Ronaldo had a great year in 2012.  And to celebrate his accomplishments from 2012, Nike is releasing an limited edition CR Mercurial IX that the striker will debut against Real Sociedad on Sunday.  And Soccer Confidential will have your inside tips on how to get a pair of these cool cleats.

The 27-year-old scored 60 goals in 55 games for Real Madrid on the way to the Spanish La Liga title.  He became the first player to score against all 19 rival La Liga sides on the campaign.  He laced up his Nike Mercurials 14 times for Portugal and added 9 goals.

And these impressive stats – 1, 9, 14, 19, 27, 55, 60 - are part of the new design.  The numbers are printed on the side of the heel.  The all-white upper has bold CR7 graphic on the medial side.  The CR7 is in black Ronaldo’s stats embossed and with a pink outline.  And you can’t forget the swoosh which is also in a eye-grabbing pink color.

“Last season was a very special one for me, helping my team and country achieve success,” Ronaldo said.  “It’s great to celebrate these achievements and also have a great pair of Mercurial boots to recognize the moment.  I’ll enjoy playing in them for sure.”
